Now is not the time to cancel your wedding videography

Now is not the time to cancel your wedding videography because of the CONVID-19 crisis. Many couples across the world right now have dealt with or will have to deal with how their wedding is going to look like this year. Some have had to cancel, postpone, and some kept their dates. Along with the decision of when the wedding will take place, couples will have to work with vendors to still keep the dream alive. Now is not the time to cancel your wedding videography, here is why.

Soft Re-opening

A potential outcome for non-essential businesses reopening is a soft opening. Meaning, we can’t be wide open with large crowds. Speculation is that weddings, concerts, sporting events, etc will not get back to normal until next year. How does this apply to you? You may not be able to have a large wedding. Perhaps only 25 people or less and as time goes on and if everything goes well with recovering from CONVID-19, we can have larger groups of people.

With all that said, you may not be able to have all the people you planned to be part of your wedding. You’ll have to consider limiting guests and vendors. How will those people who cannot attend relive the wedding? Video.

Wedding videography can capture from just the ceremony to full coverage of all the special moments from the wedding. Video presents the emotions that no other form can do.

One of my favorite moments from a weddings was just before the ceremony, the groomsman were giving the groom a pep talk and encouragement. I was able to capture the whole scene and now the couple can listen to those words spoken over the groom moments before saying, “I do.”

There are so many times while editing wedding videos that I get caught up in the emotions from the moments. Video will make your smile, cry, and literally LOL while watching the videos over and over.

Video Allows You To Relive The Wedding

I don’t say any of this in an arrogant tone thinking that the videographer is the most important part of the day, but video does capture the most important parts of the day that no other form can do.

Another reason to reschedule is to allow vendors to take care of your needs legally. At this time of this post, it is against the law to work a wedding, even if the wedding is 10 people or less and adheres to social distancing guidelines. In the state of Alabama, weddings were called out as an example of what can’t happen.

Unfortunately, I have had to turn away working weddings because of the current law. If I can be transparent, I am wrecked inside even as I type this blog out. Today, my company was supposed to be filming two weddings. Two weddings I cared A LOT about.

What Matters Most

Let me say this too, in my opinion, it’s the marriage that matters most, not all the bells and whistles. I honor those couples who put the marriage first above everything else. In addition, I have had some hard conversations with couples about their weddings. This is something I may have to revisit in another blog or video post as I think others may benefit from how the situations were handled.

Wedding Planner

I know you had plans for a certain date, but rescheduling might be the best option for your wedding as planned. I strongly encourage you if you have not developed a plan b for your wedding that is scheduled for May and June, to reach out to a wedding planner.

A wedding planner can help contact all the vendors, people involved, and help refocus on the new date. The sooner you can do this, the better. My company can handle three weddings on one day and we have had to refer to other companies because we are booked up. Many companies can only handle one wedding on one day. Point is, we got to get your wedding locked in before someone else takes your date. We as vendors want to keep our clients and would hate to lose out on capturing your day because we are already booked.

Options

To remind you, even if you reschedule for a later date, you may not have all the people at your wedding you originally planned for. Let video capture your day so you and everyone else can relive the moments.

In addition, Evergreen Creative Company has mobile live streaming capabilities. We can broadcast your wedding privately or publicly for those who cannot attend the wedding. Check out our Wedding Packages. We offer from just a ceremony recording to full-day coverage.

Even with a limited amount of people at a wedding, there are beautiful ways to capture a wedding such as elopements and micro-wedding styles.

We would love to open a conversation with you about how we can help cover your wedding or if you need any wedding advice. Use the contact form below or leave a comment on this post.
